About The Position

This position serves as the primary assistant to the Regional Director, Associate Directors, and other professional staff at the Tennessee Valley and Sand Mountain Research and Extension Centers. The role involves performing general office clerical and administrative duties, assisting with financial processes, HR tasks, report preparation, and potentially basic farm research duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in clerical and administrative support services (for Level I).
  • High school diploma plus 4 years of experience in clerical and administrative support services (for Level II).
  • A valid Alabama driver's license is required.

  • When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general office clerical and administrative duties such as, answer phone, fax/scan documents, type correspondence, sort/distribute mail, and maintain office supplies.
  • Serve as initial receptionist for callers and visitors.
  • Assist with financial processes such as vendor vouchers, collection reports, and reimbursements for travel.
  • Assist with timekeeping, payroll, and other HR related tasks.
  • Prepare a variety of reports, documents, and spreadsheets as requested and required.
  • Assist with basic farm research duties as needed; and perform other duties as assigned.
