About The Position

Mercer University is searching for an Administrative Support Assistant on the Macon, Georgia campus. The Administrative Support Assistant manages the administrative needs of two departments, English and International/Global Studies, including all programs led by faculty in these departments. Acts as receptionist for the departments, handles telephone and e-mail communications, purchases supplies, supervises work-study students, and monitors budgets as directed by department chairs. Operates under the supervision of the Chair of the English Department, who coordinates administrative support needs for the departments mentioned above. This is an 11-month position working 37.5 hours per week from August 1 to June 30 each year and is off during the month of July.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • One year of administrative support experience
  • Ability to learn Anthology and Workday software programs.
  • Ability to use MS Excel to create and maintain spreadsheets and prepare budget information.
  • Ability to use MS Word to prepare correspondence, manuscripts, etc.
  • Ability to use various Internet browsers to access information from the internet
  • Ability to use Outlook to send, receive, and forward email.
  • Ability independently to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks from multiple individuals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including communicating with a variety of stakeholders inside and outside of the university.
  • Basic knowledge of contemporary technology so as to provide clear communication with faculty and the tech support staff of the university.
