About The Position

The Office of the President is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student employee to support daily office operations, special projects, and student campus engagement initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience in administrative support, event coordination, professional communication, and student engagement within an executive office environment. The student employee will gain insight into college leadership and institutional operations while contributing to meaningful campus projects and activities that connect students with the President and college leadership. This is an in-person position reporting to the Administrative Operations Coordinator in the Office of the President. This is a part-time, hourly position intended to be a one-year appointment. The successful candidate must be a currently enrolled TCC student.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student enrolled at Tacoma Community College.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain good academic standing and satisfactory progress toward educational goals throughout the internship.
  • Adhere to the Tacoma Community College Student Code of Conduct and demonstrate professionalism, respect and appropriate conduct in interactions with students, staff, faculty, guests and college leadership.
  • Must be a current TCC student.
  • The finalist for this position will be subject to a criminal background check prior to the start of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, copying, scanning, and organizing office materials.
  • Provide front desk coverage, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries.
  • Support the coordination and facilitation of initiatives within the President’s Student Engagement Plan, including President’s Taxi, Grocery Bingo, Town Halls, and other student engagement activities, including coordinating day-of logistics, materials, communications, and event support.
  • Facilitate with event preparation, onsite support, scheduling, communications materials and coordination with campus partners.
  • Provide day-of event support by assisting with setup, welcoming and engaging students.
  • Coordinating activities, addressing logistical needs, and helping ensure events run smoothly.
  • Provide meaningful opportunities for students to connect with the President.
  • Represent the President’s Office at campus tabling events and outreach activities.
  • Assist with maintaining organized office spaces, supply inventory, and shared work areas.
  • Draft and send email reminders and announcements as directed.
  • Help manage scheduling logistics (room reservations, meeting set-up).
  • Update and maintain databases, contact lists, and other office records.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the President’s Office
