About The Position

Primary Role: As an Administrative Specialist for the Concealed and Carry Deadly Weapons (CCDW) section you will provide professional level support regarding the maintenance, dissemination, and implementation of the CCDW system. This position will afford you the opportunity to utilize verbal communication skills daily to interact with the public, law enforcement officials, and others in need of guidance regarding concealed carry licenses. You will fill a significant role ensuring the safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.
  • Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Logs check and money order payments into the KSP firearms application in batches of up to 500 transactions.
  • Processes check reports and reconciles register tapes to verify payment accuracy.
  • Prepares and submits payment reports to Financial Grants and Management for processing.
  • Performs quality control reviews of scanned and indexed application records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Crops and verifies applicant photographs, requests additional background checks as needed in accordance with KRS 237.110, and accepts new and renewal applications for printing.
  • Opens and processes incoming mail by verifying that all required documents and payments are included, date- stamping materials, and organizing applications into batches for logging and processing.
  • Responds to CCDW inquiries from state and local agencies and the general-public.
  • Prepares and disseminates supporting documents and information to external agencies in accordance with KRS 237.110 and established CCDW policies and procedures.
  • Identifies, organizes, and scans documents.
  • Enters application data and indexes renewal applications and supporting documentation into the CCDW system in accordance with CCDW section policies and procedures.
  • Prints CCDW licenses and sheriff’s packing lists and reviews licenses for accuracy and completeness in accordance with CCDW procedures.
  • Corrects and reprints licenses as necessary and prepares materials for mailing.
  • Analyzes hits on rap sheets in the CCDW firearms application background check system.
