About The Position

Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) is currently seeking an Administrative Specialist for the Division of Retiree Health Care located in Frankfort, Kentucky. KPPA is responsible for the daily administration of three state administered retirement systems with over $29 billion in combined assets. These systems have a membership of more than 444,000 state and local government employees in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, including state employees, state police officers, city and county employees, as well as non-teaching staff of local school boards and regional universities. This position is in the Division of Retirement Health Care and is supported by approximately 15 counselors, 2 Medicare Services Specialists, 2 Program Managers, and an Assistant Director along with the Director. The Retiree Health Care team is responsible for providing a wide range of services to CERS, KERS and SPRS members and beneficiaries. Services are conducted through phone calls, written correspondence, onsite, and virtual member appointments upon request.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.
  • Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily indexing of documents and forms, processes daily mail, and reviews and mails special mailing documents.
  • Reviews health insurance forms and documents to determine validity.
  • Communicates professionally face-to-face with KPPA membership and connects visitors with the appropriate division.
  • Assesses visitor's needs, answers general questions, and aids with information required to complete health insurance forms.
  • Assists with setting up virtual or in office appointments with counselors as appropriate.
  • Researches, gathers, and prepares information for various reports for management.
