About The Position

The Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking an Administrative Specialist II for a contractual position in the Allegany County Department of Social Services- Child Support Unit. This role will focus on providing case management to enrolled individuals to reduce barriers preventing employment, aiming to help them obtain employment and comply with support obligations. DHS is a large agency dedicated to positively impacting the lives of Marylanders through economic support, preventive services, and care for children and adults, fostering a culture of innovation to ensure no one is left behind.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, and Google applications.
  • One year of experience in case management.
  • One year of experience providing customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services, community resource linkages, and appropriate referrals to facilitate skill-building of parents/program participants in job readiness, employment development, assessment, and barrier removal.
  • Complete all required program reporting and documentation requirements and appropriate systems.
  • Locate and/or accept appropriate referrals for the Non-Custodial Employment Program and Parents as Partners via local legal community, Child Support court hearings, and other Departmental units, and community organizations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, Departmental staff, local employers, and other service providers to facilitate the Non-Custodial Employment Program and Parents as Partners service delivery.
  • Manage program budget and timelines in a manner conducive to service delivery and renewal of program funding.
