About The Position

The City of Johnson City, Tennessee, is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Specialist II. This position performs skilled clerical and administrative work in support of City Administration, Communications & Engagement, Economic Development and Information Technology. This position reports to the Special Projects Manager. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling a wide variety of administrative duties with professionalism, efficiency, and excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in typing, secretarial skills, word processing, operation of office equipment, and oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated skill in the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe software
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a similar position required

Nice To Haves

  • College-level coursework in business, customer/public relations or service, computer applications, or office management preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining the City meetings calendar for voluntary boards and the City Commission
  • Assist with compiling and distributing the electronic build-out of the City Commission agenda using iCompass software
  • Assist with payroll submission and administrative duties (travel forms, bill reconciliations, reporting, scheduling, etc.) for Administration, IT, Economic Development, and Communications & Engagement departments
  • Administer the City Hall front lobby, serving as the primary contact for daily visitors, meeting attendees, etc.
  • Serve in the City switchboard rotation, taking telephone inquiries and complaints, ascertaining the nature of the call, and directing it to the appropriate division personnel or resolves personally
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
