About The Position

This position is located at the BHDD - Office of Mental Health, Pickens Mental Health Clinic, 337 West Main Street, Easley, SC 29640. As an Administrative Specialist II, under general supervision, you will serve as a Receptionist at the Pickens Mental Health Clinic independently performing a variety of advanced administrative duties.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and two (2) years of clerical experience, or an associate degree in secretarial science or other related field; or three (3) years of clerical experience.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb, drive from location to location, lift and file.
  • Knowledge of word processing centers and/or current office management practices.
  • Knowledge of grammatical rules, clerical formats and/or journalistic principles.
  • Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of the physically or mentally challenged.
  • Knowledge of basic training principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures of microfilm photography.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and classification.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public in handling inquiries and communicating information.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute advanced front office duties in an accurate, timely and efficient manner treating all patients with dignity and respect.
  • Check patients in and out respectively, schedule doctor appointments, make reminder calls and update patient information as needed.
  • Request payment for services rendered.
  • Receive phone consultations and referrals.
  • Notify team leader by email upon receipt and import associated paperwork to patient’s chart.
  • Serve as head cashier.
  • Provide back-up coverage for Medical Records, Patient Intake and Data Entry Clerk areas as needed.
