About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Reporting to the Administrative Officer I, this position will perform all aspects of personnel operations to include the hiring process, benefits processing, payroll verification, entering timesheets, leave of absence, and administering family medical leave.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience Or Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling interviews and processing the hiring packages.
  • Providing guidance as the Time and Leave Administrator within the Integrated HR-Payroll System.
  • Preparing New Hire Orientation paperwork and conducting New Employee Orientation.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and remaining up to date on NC state benefits to help guide new and/or current employees.
  • Maintaining and organizing files and records, both hard and electronic copies, and tracking data.
  • Reviewing complicated tasks to ensure accuracy and integrity of information.
  • Working under pressure to meet deadlines for reports and other requirements.
  • Comprehending and abiding by policy and procedures.
