About The Position

The Nebraska Wheat Board and Dry Pea and Lentil Board are currently seeking and Administrative Specialist to join their teams. This position will provide professional administrative, program, and operational support to the Nebraska Wheat Board and the Nebraska Dry Pea and Lentil Commission. This position coordinates board meetings, research and market development projects, contracts and grants, financial and records management, communications, producer outreach, and domestic and international industry activities. The position serves as a key liaison with producers, researchers, government agencies, commodity organizations, and industry partners while ensuring the efficient administration of two producer-funded state agencies.

Requirements

  • At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, accountability, and service to producers.
  • Represent the organizations professionally and positively.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with ag stakeholders.
  • Analyze information, summarize complex issues, and provide clear recommendations.
  • Develop and execute communication plans.
  • Research ag issues and summarize information for decision making
  • Communicate effectively with board, stakeholders, researchers, government officials, and producers.
  • Must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work in remote locations when overnight travel is required.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor Degree in Agriculture related field.
  • Knowledge of commodity check-off programs.
  • Experience coordinating events, trade teams, education, and outreach activities.
  • Experience with grant management, budgeting, and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support.
  • Coordinate board meetings.
  • Maintain records.
  • Track expenditures, contracts, invoices and project commitments.
  • Provide financial updates and reports.
  • Serve as a point of contact for producers
  • Identify research priorities and coordinate research proposals, contracts, reporting, and updates.
  • Support marketing and trade activities.
  • Monitor and provide updates regarding policy developments affecting producers.
  • Maintain relationships and represent NDPLC at meetings and events.
  • Coordinate logistics for board members and staff in addition to reimbursement and documentation of travel and events.
  • All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
