About The Position

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a professional self-starter to serve as an Administrative Specialist 4 (Court Mediator) in the Family Division in the Bergen Vicinage. This role involves mediating children's court cases, custody and parenting time disputes, and case conferencing. The selected candidate will also conduct Parent Education classes and serve as a Domestic Violence and/or Child Support Hearing Officer monthly. Additionally, the position includes mentoring and coaching lower-level employees, maintaining records, submitting statistical reports, implementing legislative enactments and court rules, planning projects, developing communication plans, participating in statewide subcommittees, staying updated on current trends and laws, and performing other related duties. The Judiciary offers a hybrid work schedule, potentially allowing up to two days of remote work, provided the employee has high-speed internet and installs a multifactor authentication app. Regular physical presence at the worksite is an essential function.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and four years of experience in professional case management and/or dispute resolution.
  • Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits.
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • A law degree from an approved American Bar Association law school may be substituted for two years of experience.
  • Note: A master’s degree or a law degree from an accredited college or university, may be used as a substitution, not both.
  • Must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
  • Must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey within one year of hiring, unless an exemption is granted.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $81,866.60 to $127,586.80 for Schedule A, and $81,866.60 to $121,207.46 for Schedule B.
