About The Position

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a well-organized individual with excellent customer service, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills to work as an Administrative Specialist 2 in the Operations Division. This role involves maintaining the confidentiality of court matters, adapting to changing priorities, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment. The position provides professional administrative support for court proceedings under the direction of a Court Executive 1B (Jury Manager) or other supervisory personnel. The role requires public speaking and strong organizational skills. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits.
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants who are approaching their anticipated graduation date may apply; if selected, the applicant must complete their degree no later than their start date.
  • Must be prepared to work in Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties.
  • Must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
  • Must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey within one year of hiring, unless an exemption is granted.
  • Must complete the application process fully and as instructed, including detailed work experience and education sections.
  • Must describe all relevant work experience in detail, beginning with current or most recent job, including military service, internships, and job-related volunteer work.
  • Must use a separate section to describe each position.
  • Must have high speed home internet access to participate in the hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Vicinage Jury functions in and out of the Jury Management system, including processing summonses, jury orders, excusals, deferments, and disqualifications.
  • Create jury pools and process juror payroll.
  • Review statistical reports related to jury functions.
  • Conduct Grand Jury Orientation and Petit Juror Orientation.
  • Manage records retention for jury functions.
  • Handle purchasing for the Jury division.
  • Explain judiciary policies or procedures to jurors, judges, staff, and team members.
  • Apply statutes and court rules.
  • Cross-train with other staff.
  • Advise management on issues concerning the public, divisions, and/or agencies.
  • Answer questions posed by judges, the public, and customers.
  • Determine appropriate services for summoned jurors.
  • Moderate virtual jury selection.
  • Facilitate the use of audio visual technology for court users to participate in court events.
  • Conduct Grand Jury sessions to assist in back-up coverage for the Grand Jury Clerk.
  • Assist with other court operations as needed, including transcripts, vehicle fleet management, interpreting, mail, facilities support, judge and staff moves, records, ceremonial events and activities, and other assigned tasks/projects.
