About The Position

The Environmental Compliance Division (ECD) is seeking a versatile and driven candidate to join our team as an Administrative Services Technician IV at our Montpelier, Vermont office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team that works to protect human health and the environment through proactive assistance and investigative enforcement of Vermont's environmental laws, regulations, rules, and permits. Core responsibilities of this position include: Providing assistance to members of the public, businesses, and regulated entities about VT's environmental regulations through answering a general phone line and responding to emails from a general inbox. Completing special projects for the ECD program managers. Serving as back up to the Enforcement Section's Administrative Services Coordinator. Other general office duties including, but not limited to, ordering supplies, processing mail, and serving as a liaison on Department teams. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and patient, has excellent written and oral communication skills, manages time effectively and multitasks routinely, has strong organization skills, meets deadlines, and is able to work independently and as a team member with other Division and Agency staff. This position is a part-time, temporary position with an expected average of 20 hours of work per week. Candidates will have a regular three to five day a week work schedule (with a preference for four or five days) during core state business hours of 7:45 am to 4:30 pm. Candidates will also be expected to be in the office in Montpelier multiple days per week.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and one (1) year of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.
  • One (1) year of College level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field.
  • One (1) year as an Administrative Services Technician III with the State of Vermont.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
