About The Position

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. This leadership opportunity directs the daily operations of the Correspondence Processing Unit, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of critical member communications that support enrollment and retention for thousands of Louisiana residents. Leading a dedicated team of classified and contract staff, you’ll play a key role in improving customer service, driving operational excellence, and supporting access to essential healthcare coverage across the state. Requirements

  • Three years of experience in administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A Bachelor's degree.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage statewide correspondence processing operations, ensuring the timely receipt, sorting, scanning, indexing, filing, and disposition of Medicaid and LaCHIP mail in compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to classified and contracted staff, including assigning work, monitoring performance, coordinating schedules, and ensuring operational goals are achieved.
  • Establish workload priorities and adjust staffing assignments to meet changing business needs, workload demands, and legislative or policy changes.
  • Ensure accurate processing of correspondence-related case actions within LaMEDS and EDMS, including document uploads, case updates, address changes, death notifications, and member requests.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational procedures, quality control measures, and performance standards to maintain efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with Medicaid program requirements.
  • Analyze operational reports, workload data, and service trends to identify improvement opportunities, evaluate program effectiveness, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Lead special projects and process improvement initiatives, advise leadership on emerging issues affecting member services, and support strategic planning to enhance customer service and program operations.
