About The Position

The Administrative Officer (AO) is the principal nonclinical administrative authority for a large, complex clinical service comprised of multiple diagnostic imaging modalities/programs and administrative support sections. The AO provides expert advisory services and executes all administrative functions across budget, procurement/contracting, human resources administration, program/operations analysis, policy management, and quality/performance improvement.

Requirements

  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

  • Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

  • You will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period or 2-year trial period.
  • Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
  • Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: comprehensive experience with administrative functions within an office; experience as a dependable reliable employee meeting deadlines and working well under pressure, experience with budget formulation and fiscal management skills; experience with contracting functions and managing procurement; assisting with human resources functions such as recruitment, position classification, position management, etc.; retaining procurement records and reconciliations, experience with analytical skills to guide operational improvement projects and computer skills, experience demonstrating eagerness to prioritize and organize large volume of data and provide organized structured reports and maintain excellent record keeping to support changes and comply with policies; excellent written, and spoken communication skills to be effective in collaborative projects which supports organizational goals and strong commitment to excellent customer service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provides authoritative advice and counsel to the Service Chief and leadership on administrative operations, policy implementation, resource planning, and workflow/process issues; prepares briefings, decision papers, and position statements.
  • Interprets agency/network/facility policies and regulations, identifies operational risks and constraints, and recommends solutions to complex administrative challenges; participates in planning councils, committees, and workgroups.
