About The Position

This position is located at Alexander Correctional Institution located in Taylorsville, N.C. (Alexander County), which is a 1,000 bed single-cell close custody facility with 4 housing units and a 252-bed minimum custody unit and employs approximately 408 staff. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the complete business function of the facility to include all fiscal and Human Resource operations. This requires high level decision making based on knowledge of DAC policy as well as a thorough understanding of facility operations. This position reports to the Warden IV of Alexander Correctional Institution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in personnel, budgeting, research or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience working in North Carolina Department of Adult Correction or North Carolina Prisons.
  • Experience working with the Human Resources Integrated Payroll System (formerly BEACON).
  • Experience overseeing Business Operations or assisting a Management Level professional with oversight of a large or complex Business Operation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of all facility administrative operations, including budget, business office functions, procurement, inventory, and support services to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
  • Supervises administrative and support staff, including assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring staff are trained in applicable policies and procedures.
  • Implements and monitors administrative policies and procedures in accordance with NCDAC guidelines and State regulations.
  • Prepares, administers, and monitors the facility’s operating budget, ensuring proper fiscal management, reporting, and adherence to established controls.
  • Ensures compliance with internal audits, policy standards, and regulatory requirements, and implements corrective actions as necessary.
  • Serves as a member of the facility’s management team, providing guidance and recommendations on administrative, financial, and operational matters.
  • Coordinates administrative support functions with custody and programs staff to ensure continuous and effective facility operations.
  • Reviews and evaluates administrative processes and operations to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements that enhance accountability and service delivery.
