About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Reporting to Warden II, this position is responsible for administering and managing the complete business and human resource management functions at Sanford Correctional Center. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Managing and supervising budgets, accounting, human resources, canteen, clothes-house, mailroom, and trust fund. Assigning and monitoring the work efforts of subordinate staff. - Planning and monitoring budgets, approval of expenditures, purchasing of supplies and equipment, inventories, establishment and monitoring of temporary employees and personal service contracts, fiscal audit functions, canteen, mailroom, and warehouse/clothes operations. - Overseeing human resource operations to include hiring, benefits, timekeeping, FIORI, and staff disciplinary actions. - Enforcing all State administrative policies and procedures pertaining to the operation of a correctional facility and ensuring all areas of supervision comply with the administrative practices of the Department of Adult Correction and applicable State regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in HR, budgeting, research or administrative management; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
