About The Position

This is a contractual position with State of Maryland benefits. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is a national leader in the financing and development of affordable housing and community development lending. The primary function of the Community Development Administration is to encourage and support home-ownership in Maryland. DHCD has an immediate opening for an Administrative Officer I primarily in conjunction with the Maryland Mortgage Program Products. DHCD offers a flexible work schedule, telework and job sharing options, training, advancement and career path opportunities, casual business dress on Fridays, and competitive salary. There is ample parking and our offices are located in walking distance to the New Carrollton MARC Train Station.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office software; Word, Excel and PowerPoint in a corporate setting.
  • Knowledge the Google mail platform in a corporate setting.
  • Corporate level knowledge of English writing, grammar and mathematics.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in a corporate setting.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to the Director of Single Family and other staff within the Single Family team.
  • Works cooperatively with other administrators within the CDA division.
  • Requires regular use of independent judgement and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans or policies.
  • Assigned administrative responsibilities involving customer service.
  • Analysis of operational programs (the Maryland Mortgage Program-MMP, for instance) or procedures with recommendations for improvements.
