About The Position

The Department of Labor & Industry is searching for an analytically minded Administrative Officer 2 to join the Audit and Compliance Division. This position is responsible for analyzing data related to business tax records to identify categories of businesses which may have misclassified workers or are underreporting wages. This position supports the development and enhancement of data exchanges and audit processes that guide the identification and review of audit leads. It plays an important role in ensuring high quality results and maintaining compliance with federal and state requirements, leveraging this information to perform cross-matching with tax records and generate potential audit leads.

Requirements

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and a bachelor's degree
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Be able to perform essential job functions
  • Pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment due to access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and compliance with IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075)
  • Submit to and receive approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including a fingerprint-based federal records check, a PA State Police clearance, a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years, and a citizenship/residency verification.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze information from multiple tax related sources to identify potential audit leads that improve program efficiency
  • Manage COMPAS audit system assignments, user accounts, settings and audit distribution to support monthly workload requirements
  • Maintain and improve data sharing processes with state and federal agencies to support accurate cross matching and lead development
  • Evaluate audit outcomes to identify deficiencies and provide recommendations that strengthen statewide audit performance
  • Assess investigative results and reporting needs to enhance overall auditing strategies and support compliance with TPS measures
