About The Position

Clinical Care Delivery provides high-quality, patient-centered care focused on diagnosing, treating, and managing care while ensuring the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of the practice. Clinical Services are responsible for medical services that directly or indirectly provide healthcare to patients. The Administrative Medical Assistant processes referrals and authorizations, coordinates patient follow-ups and related services, communicates with patients, and supports clinical medical assistants as needed. The role works on basic and routine assignments, follows prescribed processes and detailed instructions, and receives regular guidance from a supervisor.

Requirements

Strong customer service background, preferably in a healthcare environment.

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited educational institution.

Responsibilities

Process all outbound referrals in a timely manner and appropriately prioritize urgent and STAT items.
Ensure all pertinent paperwork regarding patient referrals is completed and documented in the EMR.
Schedule non-treatment-related patient follow-ups, labs, and port flushes appropriately and correctly.
Provide insurance authorization as needed, submitting all necessary documentation and the proper diagnosis.
Keep patients informed about the status of referrals and authorizations.
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by phone and in person.
Process genetic testing and coordinate with pathology departments to ensure proper specimens are sent.
Complete tasks as stated in the Admin MA SOP.
Back up the clinical MA when needed.
Effectively complete other duties and projects as assigned.
