About The Position

Subject to pre-approval from the Division Chief Nursing Officer, the Administrative Director of Nursing operates as a senior nursing administrative leader within the acute care facility, entrusted with overseeing the operational management of multiple complex nursing departments and service lines. Reporting directly to the facility Chief Nursing Officer, this position serves as an integral link between the facility-wide nursing strategy developed by the CNO and the execution of nursing operations critical to delivering high-quality patient care. Positioned to provide operational leadership, resources management, and staff development oversight. This position facilitates the translation of system and divisional nursing strategies into actionable plans, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality nursing care in alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited educational institution required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care setting with responsibility over multiple nursing units or service lines.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of nursing clinical practices and management relevant to nursing and patient care activities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in nursing operations, financial management, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement.
  • Proven leadership skills including team development, conflict resolution, and change management.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, The Joint Commission), quality improvement frameworks, and acute care nursing standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to collaborate across disciplines and influence at various organizational levels.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with common computer-based applications such as electronic mail, word processing and various databases, whether PC, network or mainframe based.

  • Master’s in Healthcare Administration, Nursing or related field from an accredited educational institution preferred.
