About The Position

Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is a 170-bed hospital serving an eight-county region in East Tennessee’s Lakeway Area. The facility includes more than 20 emergency suites, advanced laboratories, radiology, and therapy services, and a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence for mammograms, biopsies, and nurse navigation. The Women’s Center features six modern labor and delivery suites and a secure nursery for newborn care. With state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated team, Morristown-Hamblen provides exceptional, patient-focused care close to home. To meet the needs of our growing community, we continue to develop services, attract new physicians, and embrace innovation, all to promote an improved quality of life. Operational responsibility for the direction of patient care delivery in acute inpatient care services through leadership. Actively involved with multiple disciplines in all areas of the acute care continuum in efforts to maximize utilization of services available. Functions with accountability to manage planning operational activities and provide administrative input in the budgetary process for all areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree required
  • Five (5) years clinical and three (3) years management experience, or equivalent combination of educational/managerial experience.
  • Current TN nursing license required.

Responsibilities

  • Makes concerted efforts toward achievements in quality of service, financial integrity, and customer satisfaction in all areas of responsibility.
  • Leads in the promotion of ownership and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Assures compliance with the Joint Commission and state regulations in all areas of responsibility.
  • Proactively develops and supports strategies to produce the positive changes needed to achieve goals.
  • Assists in the development of process improvements through facilitation and appropriate resource allocation.
  • Monitors effectiveness of processes, plans, and problem-solves to improve outcomes.
  • Maintains financial integrity and control for areas of responsibility, including the development of and adherence to an annual budget.
  • Assists in the development of an efficient and effective operational and capital budget in all areas.
  • Provides education to enable clinical managers, supervisors, and staff to select appropriate indicators for operational success and to monitor outcomes as they relate to processes.
  • Guides clinical managers and supervisors in recruiting, retaining, orienting, educating, and maintaining competency of all staff.
  • Works cooperatively with case managers to achieve goals related to appropriateness of patient placement, service utilization, length of stay, costs, and clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals to improve processes that positively impact quality, assure integration of marketing efforts, and the development and implementation of effective system goals.
  • Assists and supports the standardization of products and the consolidation of sources.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
