About The Position

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking an Administrative Coordinator for its Child Welfare Office in Ouachita Parish, Monroe, LA. This role serves as the first point of contact, creating a welcoming environment for clients and visitors, and providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the front office. The position offers clerical, programmatic, and administrative support functions for staff, applicants, and clients. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, organized, and thrive in a people-centered environment. This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled as an Administrative Coordinator 1, 2, or 3, with opportunities for advancement within the job series. The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant. This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months, with the possibility of conversion to a probational appointment. It may also be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical support to the Child Welfare parish office.
  • Assist with administrative and receptionist duties when needed or as assigned.
  • Schedule fingerprints and perform printing for all prospective foster parents, care givers, and facility employees.
  • Performs duties related to purchasing of office supplies.
  • Keep record of all office equipment and prepare reports of items needing to be surplus.
  • Organize and maintain file room and files in accordance with established procedure and records retention policy.
  • May serve as timekeeper.
