About The Position

Under general supervision, this role facilitates patient placement during admission and transfer through the triage function. The Administrative Coordinator meets with physicians and their office staff to market services with the medical community and serves as a clinical and administrative resource. This position resolves problems that arise during evening and night shifts, as well as day shifts on weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience required.
  • Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
  • ACLS Certification
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Analytical skills to interpret and enforce policies and procedures, and to identify and initiate appropriate corrective action to resolve problems.
  • Knowledge of current bed statues within the Medical Clinical Service Group.
  • Healthcare Provider CPR biennial
  • Employee has knowledge and understanding of patient and workforce safety as it relates to job duties.
  • Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age-specific needs if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical/surgical nursing experience with critical care, emergency room or triage experience preferred.
  • One (1) year of leadership experience (Charge RN, CUC or management) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises hospital activities in the absence of administrative personnel.
  • Gathers information from various sources regarding staffing needs of units and establishes need priorities.
  • Serves as a Resource ASAP to fill units’ unmet needs.
  • Updates ShiftWizard to reflect changes made to need requirements.
  • Supervises staffing coordinators in resourcing temporary staff.
  • Adjusts and floats nursing staff as necessary.
  • Collaborates with Unit Secretaries and Nurses, Managers/Charge RNs to have optimal staffing throughout the hospital.
  • Reviews initial service assignment for fit – if necessary discusses with physician.
  • Makes requests to the unit.
  • Makes bed assignments as determined by level of care and service.
  • Performs bed placement/triage patients to appropriate unit.
  • Responsible for direct admissions, coordinates with Oncology department to collect appropriate information.
  • Gathers data, conducts analysis and provides input on patient flow systems problems and solutions.
  • Directs activities of the Resource Nurse.
  • Authorizes red alert, and facilitates patient flow issues to improve critical care capacity.
  • Troubleshoots unresolved issues concerning equipment, dietary, housekeeping and transport, and lab during off hours (evenings, nights and weekends).
  • Performs rapid response quality check.
  • Performs stroke alert quality check.
  • Performs Code Pink quality check.
  • Performs Behavioral Health Response Team (BHRT) quality check.
  • Performs Code Blue quality check.
  • Responds to emergency events (flood, snow, etc.).
  • Handles employee relations issues during evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Manages disciplinary activity, as needed.
  • Oversees substance abuse and testing.
  • Addresses patient complaints/conflict resolution.
  • Serves as a resource to staff for policies and procedures.
  • Assists with BBP exposures protocols to staff.
