About The Position

The Administrative Coordinator, Sport and Recreation will be responsible for the administration, planning, and supporting the delivery of innovative, inclusive programs that will create opportunities and increase participation in sport and recreation, ensuring all members of the community are able to develop their physical literacy both within Abilities Centre programs and with external partners.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Sport, Physical Education, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field.
  • Experience in program administration, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or initiatives/programs that focus on inclusion.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the philosophy of Physical Literacy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledge of ACTIVENet or similar recreation management software.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and comfortable presenting to large groups in various settings with varied audiences.
  • Effective planning, organizing, and time management skills to manage multiple demands.
  • Dedicated to a participant experience that exceeds expectations, and inspire confidence, resilience, and self-esteem in participants through respect, acceptance, and by focusing on strengths and achievements.
  • Positive attitude, interact well with clients, participants, and fellow employees, and foster an environment that values and encourages teamwork and empowerment.

  • A current, clear vulnerable sector check (V.S.C) is required.
  • A current, valid First Aid and C.P.R C / A.E.D. is required.
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Flexible regarding work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Coordinators in the Sport and Recreation department to implement annual registered program strategies, including configuring ActiveNET registration, supporting families through the registration process, developing and executing communication plans, ensuring participant documents are completed, preparing operational procedures and administrative resources, and booking program spaces.
  • Work with Senior Coordinators in the Sport and Recreation department to implement annual Field Trip and Physical Literacy Workshop strategies, including monitoring and responding to inquiries, scheduling and booking, ensuring documents are completed, preparing administrative resources, and booking spaces.
  • Work with the Senior Coordinator, A.S.A.D Durham to implement annual program registration strategies, including responding to inquiries, scheduling and booking visits, communicating with parents, configuring ActiveNET registration, supporting families, developing communication plans, ensuring student documents are completed, preparing administrative resources, and booking program spaces.
  • Develop Sport and Recreation program promotional materials with the Marketing and Communication Department, including website and social media content updates.
  • Support Senior Coordinators and the Research Department in implementing program evaluations to gather feedback for improvement and to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Support the delivery of programming as needed.
  • Assist with other duties as reasonably assigned by the Director, Sport and Recreation.
