About The Position

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. This position may be filled in the following parishes: Caddo, DeSoto. As part of the Office of Economic Stability, you’ll provide essential administrative and program support for SNAP, STEP, FITAP, and Kinship Care Assistance while ensuring benefits are delivered accurately and timely. Requirements

  • Two years of experience in administrative services.
  • Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews applications for compliance with departmental policies and conducts applicant interviews to gather information and assist clients with applying for benefits.
  • Assesses client needs and potential program eligibility by collecting and verifying information and researching client records through multiple automated systems.
  • Provides customer service and assists clients with completing and submitting benefit information through self-service kiosks and other available resources.
  • Processes program-related transactions, including work items, appointment letters, address changes, benefit verifications, and issuance or replacement of Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards.
  • Provides clerical and administrative support by scanning and indexing documents, processing mail and correspondence, maintaining supplies, compiling reports, and assisting staff with eligibility documentation.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable assistance programs and participates in required training, including voter registration, disaster food assistance, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Supports disaster response operations by interviewing and registering individuals for Disaster Food Stamp benefits, assisting evacuees and shelter operations, and coordinating services through applicable emergency response systems.
