About The Position

The Administrative Hearings Division (AHD) of the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC or Commission) is primarily responsible for compiling accurate and complete records of proceedings before the Commission. The incumbent serves as an LPSC Court Reporter and adheres to professional standards of court reporting by utilizing electronic recording equipment to produce verbatim transcripts of all public hearings and meetings presided over by the five elected LPSC Commissioners, all adjudicatory hearings and oral arguments presided over by the Administrative Law Judges, and technical conferences conducted by the Commission's Office of General Counsel. A strong command of punctuation is very useful in this position. Core Competencies: Accepting Direction: The ability to be open and willing to follow guidance or instructions. Requirements

  • Two years of experience in administrative services.
  • A strong command of punctuation.

  • Experience with electronic recording equipment.
  • Experience with For The Record software.
  • Experience using a foot pedal for transcription.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize electronic recording equipment to produce verbatim transcripts of public hearings and meetings.
  • Test recording equipment before each hearing/meeting.
  • Set up for hearings/meetings.
  • Cover hearings/meetings.
  • Transcribe hearings/meetings using For The Record for audio playback and a foot pedal.
  • Receive exhibits filed into the record, often confidential, and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Assist team members in reviewing/proofreading their transcripts for thoroughness and appropriate punctuation.
  • Serve as backup to supervisor as needed.
