About The Position

This position has data entry skills and working knowledge of the Assessor’s Office to ensure accurate property data is generated to maintain complex records. The work schedule is as assigned by supervisor or program. The employee will work independently or in a team. Responsibilities include entering deed transfers, land splits/combinations, and replats of parcels into the database. The employee will also enter address changes into the computer system, answer the telephone, and assist the public at the front counter. Other duties include copying maps, running mail daily, following policies and procedures of the County, communicating in English (verbally & in writing), participating in professional training, being on time for work and ready to work upon arrival, and meeting the physical requirements listed below. All other duties as required by the County Assessor will also be performed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic office procedures
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Computer skills adequate to perform work tasks
  • Learn and operate software specific to the Assessor’s Office
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in computer language
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Decision making skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English required
  • Time management skills to meet required deadlines
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple to detailed instructions, correspondence, and memos.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Colorado Driver’s License
  • One to two years of experience working in an office
  • Must pass Alamosa County background check and pre-employment drug screen
