About The Position

The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time - Administrative Assistant at our Brenham Campus. This position provides administrative and clerical services to ensure effective management and efficient operations for the following departments under the supervision of the Dean of Student Engagement: Academic Advising; Disability Services and Counseling; Student Leadership and Activities; Testing Services. The role involves providing receptionist services, answering general questions, offering administrative support to Directors, maintaining office equipment, ordering supplies, and assisting with student workers. This is a 40-hour per week, on-campus, 12-month, benefits-eligible position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Computer proficiency in software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem solving, and people skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Blinn College mission, purpose and commitment to student success and high academic standards.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, parents, and the public from diverse ethnic and socio-cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to supervise student workers in the performance of their duties

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree
  • Previous experience in a community college setting
  • Previous secretarial experience
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Experience with college database programs such as BANNER

Responsibilities

  • Provides receptionist services such as meeting, greeting and assisting current students, prospective students and campus visitors.
  • Provides answers to general questions regarding academic advising, testing, steps to receive accommodations and adjustments and other related duties for the departments related to the Dean of Student Success in the Division of Student Services.
  • Provides administrative support to the Directors of the following departments: Academic Advising; Disability Services and Counseling; Student Leadership and Activities as well as Testing Services.
  • Maintains and monitors any repairs to office equipment (copier, printer, fax machine, etc.).
  • Orders and maintains adequate stock of office supplies
  • Assists with the hiring, training and supervision of student workers
  • Other duties as assigned.
