About The Position

SummitWest Care is a mission-driven, non-profit home health agency serving Mesa County. Our clinical teams rely on timely and accurate insurance authorizations to provide care, and we are seeking a dependable Administrative Assistant to support that process. This role focuses on obtaining, tracking, and maintaining insurance authorizations for home health services. It is well suited for someone who is organized, persistent, and comfortable navigating insurance requirements, online portals, and detailed documentation. You will work closely with clinicians, intake staff, and insurance providers to ensure services are approved and ready to move forward without delay.

Requirements

  • Experience working with insurance providers, authorizations, or healthcare administration
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with process-driven work
  • Persistence and follow-through when working with insurance companies and deadlines
  • Clear, professional communication across multiple teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing accuracy
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Request, obtain, and track insurance authorizations for home health services
  • Communicate with insurance providers through phone, email, and online portals
  • Follow up consistently to ensure approvals are completed within required timelines
  • Review referrals and documentation to confirm authorization requirements are met
  • Assist with referral processing and patient chart setup
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure visits are authorized and scheduled appropriately
  • Track authorized visits and flag issues before they impact care delivery
  • Maintain accurate, timely records across systems and insurance portals
  • Manage spreadsheets and internal tracking tools to monitor authorization status
  • Ensure documentation meets agency and payer requirements
  • Answer and triage incoming calls related to referrals and authorizations
  • Communicate professionally with clients, providers, and internal teams
  • Support team members with administrative needs as workflows shift
