The Administrative Assistant performs a variety of clerical functions and office support activities for the assigned department(s) to facilitate the efficient operations of the office. This role provides comprehensive professional level support in all aspects of the neuro-ophthalmology service, which handles a wide spectrum of diseases and conditions. The responsibilities extend beyond typical ophthalmology subspecialties, including managing patient schedules, coordinating referrals, obtaining authorizations for medications and procedures, facilitating specialized treatments like gene therapy, processing genetic testing, obtaining external imaging and test results, monitoring faculty in-baskets, and resolving patient and external physician issues. Additionally, the role supports academic and fellowship programs by managing clinical schedules, organizing applications and interviews, maintaining meeting agendas, and handling faculty reimbursements and supply orders. The position also provides administrative support to the Director of the Clinical Research Unit, interacting with study personnel and scheduling research meetings.
