About The Position

The Administrative Assistant operates from specific and definite directions and instructions under moderate supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operation guidelines. The Administrative Assistant encounters regular, recurring work situations of moderate administrative complexity. The Administrative Assistant must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel relative to administrative processes and provide suggestions for plant improvement. The Administrative Assistant must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio. All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer’s needs are being met.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school.
  • Two years’ general office experience required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have ability to use 10-key by touch, and type 45 words per minute.
  • Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software is required.
  • Must be able to read reports and use computer.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk to various areas throughout the plant.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop or kneel down to work with equipment or materials.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders on equipment at the plant.
  • Must be able to walk on platforms at high altitudes (80 feet or higher).
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and pull or push equipment or materials.
  • Moderate over-head reaching and lifting and grasping is necessary.
  • Must be able to write, type, and use phone system.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and direct to appropriate person.
  • Answer incoming calls and route to appropriate person.
  • Maintain plant files and document control logs.
  • Perform all word processing, with the exception of confidential information.
  • Handle data entry for purchasing and accounts payable functions as directed by the Plant Controller.
  • Perform backup duties for the Purchaser.
  • Complete other tasks as requested by the Plant Controller.
  • Dependable, reliable and predictable attendance is required.
  • Must possess a valid, in-state motor vehicle operator’s license at all times.
