The Public Defender Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS), the Massachusetts public defender agency, is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Attorney-in-Charge in running the day-to-day duties of a new, busy trial office in Hampden County. This office will provide legal representation to adults in criminal court cases, including District and Superior Court. CPCS is dedicated to fighting for equal justice and human dignity by supporting clients in achieving their legal and life goals, zealously advocating for their rights, and promoting just public policy. The agency provides representation in a wide range of cases, including criminal, delinquency, family law, and mental health matters. The newly created Hampden County Conflict Advocacy Office (CAO) will be located in Springfield and will act as the Conflicts Office for the Public Defender Division when a conflict of interest prevents a PDD staff attorney from representing a client. The CAO will operate with a separate managerial system and physical offices to ensure its independence for conflict of interest purposes.
