About The Position

The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant IV. This role provides advanced-level administrative and operational support, acting as a key liaison between faculty, staff, students, and the University. The position is responsible for representing the department in matters of scheduling, graduate application processes, and personnel issues. The Administrative Assistant IV reports directly to the Department Chair and oversees critical academic and administrative functions, including staff supervision, course scheduling, and managing the graduate application process. Key duties involve maintaining a Pcard, managing department academic scheduling, academic course assignments, graduate application processes, issuing graduate assistantships, supervising the Department AAII and AAIII, conducting annual evaluations, and performing other duties as assigned by the department chair or faculty.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education
  • Four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience, including administrative/program support to professional staff and management, performing secretarial duties, coordinating communications, supervision of subordinate staff, or researching information from internal and external sources
  • OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of Classified personnel supervision
  • Working knowledge of Rebel Gateway, MyUNLV and scheduling
  • Experience with academic scheduling systems and graduate admissions, and graduate assistantship processes
  • Familiarity with University policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
