About The Position

Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Executive Director and Director(s).

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree or the equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in basic accounting, data management, administrative oversight, and/or customer service.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 15 or fewer pounds.
  • Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage calendars, correspondence, and special requests for Executive Director and Senior Director.
  • Oversee office hospitality and coordination of office supplies.
  • Assist with new employee & student worker onboarding and administrative tasks.
  • Manage receipt reconciliation for LU Serve staff and Serve Now trips.
  • Work collaboratively with the Engagement & Operations Coordinator to ensure the budget tracking program is continually updated with recent expenses.
  • As directed, provide administrative support with the oversight and supervision of all LU Serve student workers (e.g., review of the student worker manual, setting up work shifts, clocking in/out, time off requests, etc.).
  • Record notes for LU Serve team meetings and any other meetings as directed by the Executive Director or Senior Director.
  • Collect data from meeting minutes for annual executive summary.
  • As directed by the Executive Director or Senior Director, provide assistance to the Experiential Education team with CSER emails, calls, and in-person consultations.
  • As directed, support other LU Serve events, programs, and initiatives (e.g., Local Church Emphasis Day, CSER Expo, Meal-Packing, Serve Lynchburg, etc.).
  • Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry benchmarks relevant to the initiatives, programs, and events at LU Serve.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
