About The Position

The Department of Supportive Care (DSC) is made up of three divisions - Psychosocial Oncology (PSO), Cancer Rehab & Survivorship, and Palliative Care. This position is to support the PSO at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to perform administrative tasks such as greet patients in an outpatient clinical setting, schedule patients, send and track community outreach referrals, etc.

Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary School or recognized equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary office/medical administration program at the certificate level or equivalent
  • Two (2) years related administrative support experience
  • Experience working with EPIC EMR for managing referrals, appointment scheduling, and standard clinical operations is required
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer, verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to maintain and protect patient confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with database and spreadsheet software is an asset
  • Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing in a Microsoft Office environment is preferred
  • Experience working in a teaching hospital environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Providing positive patient experiences in an outpatient clinical setting, meeting quality standards set out by UHN including registering patients, as needed, in UHN’s EPIC EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system, Epic
  • Support the timely and efficient processing of incoming referrals, scheduling/rescheduling of patient appointments, responding to patients' general inquiries, and cancelling patient appointments
  • Complete administrative tasks that support data entry for patient tracking requirements and maintaining several electronic calendars
  • Utilizing knowledge of medical terminology to support physicians and other clinicians
  • Ensuring efficient operation of the office, clinic spaces and front desks, within scope of authority
  • Provide cross-coverage support as a member of an operational administrative team
