About The Position

Under direct supervision, this role involves engaging with the community to provide financial aid and general college information to prospective and returning students and/or parents. The position requires working with supervisors on complex student/parent situations to build relationships, reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy, and performing data entry. Responsibilities include following up with students/parents via phone or email for unclear documents, scanning documents clearly for student records, and rigorously protecting student and family personal identification and data while adhering to safety and security practices. The role also includes participating in meetings and training, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment, working in a team, and completing other assigned duties. This position may occasionally require work attendance at the West Charleston or Henderson campuses.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff.
  • OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Financial Aid or a high-traffic Student Service area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with the community to provide financial aid and general college information to prospective, returning students and/or parents regarding the financial aid process.
  • Working with supervisors in complex situations regarding students/parents to create lasting relationships.
  • Reviewing documents to ensure they are complete/accurate and data entry documenting receipt.
  • Follow up by phone and/or email with students/parents if any documents are not legible for scanning.
  • Scan documents and ensure copy scanned is clear and legible before filing them into students record for further processing.
  • Rigorously protect student and family’s personal identification and data and adhere to sound safety/security practices.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Committed to fostering an environment that’s welcoming, inclusive, and respectful, and working in a team environment.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
