About The Position

Under direct supervision, this role involves engaging with the community to provide financial aid and general college information to prospective and returning students and/or parents. The position requires working with supervisors on complex student/parent situations to build relationships. Responsibilities include reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy, data entry, and following up with students/parents regarding document legibility. The role also involves scanning documents, ensuring clarity before filing, rigorously protecting student and family data, and adhering to safety/security practices. Participation in meetings and training sessions is expected, along with fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment within a team setting. This position may occasionally require work attendance at the West Charleston or Henderson campuses as CSN operates as a multi-campus institution. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Financial Aid or a high-traffic Student Service area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with the community to provide financial aid and general college information to prospective, returning students and/or parents regarding the financial aid process.
  • Working with supervisors in complex situations regarding students/parents to create lasting relationships.
  • Reviewing documents to ensure they are complete/accurate and data entry documenting receipt.
  • Follow up by phone and/or email with students/parents if any documents are not legible for scanning.
  • Scan documents and ensure copy scanned is clear and legible before filing them into students record for further processing.
  • Rigorously protect student and family’s personal identification and data and adhere to sound safety/security practices.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Committed to fostering an environment that’s welcoming, inclusive, and respectful, and working in a team environment.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
