About The Position

The purpose of the Administrative Assistant in the Warden's Office at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide exceptional administrative support to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Warden's Office. Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
  • The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
  • The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) only hires U.S. citizens and those authorized to work in the U.S. FDC uses E-Verify to confirm an employee’s eligibility to work after completing the I-9 form.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support by researching data, preparing reports, and guiding staff.
  • Reviews and drafts memos, correspondence, and confidential materials for the Warden's approval.
  • Communicates with the public and staff, answers questions, and explains policies and procedures.
  • Manages the Warden's calendar, schedules events, and compiles reports for review.
  • Handles daily mail, answers phone calls, takes meeting minutes, and keeps office files organized and secure.
