About The Position

Providing secretarial, administrative, and scheduling support for the College of Arts & Sciences Dean, Associate Dean, and Admin office. Monitor budget, supervise student workers, order supplies, and other clerical tasks. Other administrative and secretarial tasks as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide faculty and staff support to ROTC and the College of Arts and Sciences, including LU Online. Work with ROTC administration to plan, execute, and coordinate events, meetings, and recruitment opportunities for ROTC. These include CFAW, Experience LU, cadet orientation, and on- and off-site cadet training. Thorough knowledge of MS Office is essential. Knowledge of LU applications such as Canvas, WordPress, INFOR, and BuyLU is helpful. Understand the basics of operational budget, purchasing policy, and travel planning. Confidentially manage student/cadet information on behalf of ROTC. Create a welcoming environment for students and families in the ROTC office. Assist with website updates and social media. Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Schedule and supervise student workers and cadets in the department as they assist with social media posting, department events, and other tasks as assigned. Delegate weekly tasks and provide clear instructions (written and verbal) detailing assigned tasks and expectations. Monitor and approve student worker hours in the Workday system weekly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office is essential.
  • Understand the basics of operational budget, purchasing policy, and travel planning.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer and scheduling skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • BA or BS preferred.
  • Two years of experience in related field and high-volume office setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of LU applications such as Canvas, WordPress, INFOR, and BuyLU is helpful.
