About The Position

Geneva General Hospital is seeking an Administrative Assistant A to support our Emergency Department team! This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrative professional who wants to play an important role in supporting clinical operations and providing exceptional service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical secretary course background.
  • Completion of a medical terminology course.
  • At least 2 years of general secretarial experience.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in secretarial or health-related field.
  • Previous Emergency Department or healthcare experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record, particularly Meditech.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize department filing systems and identify opportunities to improve filing processes.
  • Review Emergency Department records for completion and perform terminal filing.
  • Maintain department office supply inventory and help monitor supply usage and expenditures.
  • Prepare budget information and make recommendations regarding departmental supplies.
  • Process, sort, and distribute departmental mail in a timely and organized manner.
  • Welcome visitors and handle telephone calls in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Take accurate messages, transfer calls appropriately, and assist callers with their needs.
  • Enter Radiology, Laboratory, and EKG orders into the Meditech system accurately and efficiently.
  • Enter and process discharge information, including transfers, LBE/AMA, 48-hour returns, deaths, and attending physician information.
  • Maintain confidentiality while providing professional and respectful service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
