About The Position

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) is seeking an Administrative Assistant 3 to support the Child Care Workforce Standards Board. This board is a Governor-appointed body focused on improving workforce standards and strengthening the future of child care in Washington. This role involves central coordination for board members, agency leaders, legislative partners, employers, workers, and community stakeholders. The position requires anticipating needs, managing priorities, effective communication with diverse audiences, and keeping projects moving forward. The role offers flexible scheduling options (4/10s, 9/80s, 5/8s) after training and management approval. The position is primarily teleworking with occasional in-office requirements for quarterly meetings. The assigned duty station is Tumwater, WA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND Three years of clerical, office, or administrative experience.
  • OR An Associate’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field may substitute for experience AND One year of clerical, office, or administrative experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrative support for a Governor-appointed board composed of representatives from Washington's child care community.
  • Coordinate board meetings, public hearings, and hybrid or virtual events from planning through successful execution.
  • Partner with board members, agency leadership, legislative staff, employers, workers, and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication and successful collaboration.
  • Adapt communication style to meet the needs of a wide variety of audiences.
  • Track and manage board actions, assignments, appointments, member terms, deadlines, and follow-up items.
  • Prepare professional meeting materials, agendas, presentations, minutes, reports, and correspondence.
  • Maintain board records, webpages, and official documents in accordance with public records requirements.
  • Coordinate travel, reimbursements, and board member onboarding activities.
  • Support special projects within the Government Affairs & Policy Division as needed.
