About The Position

Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking an Administrative Generalist to join our team to support selected administrative functions related to the onboarding of new employees and processing of internal transfers. This position is multi-faceted and handles new hire, internal transfer and leased labor documents and verifications and scheduling of travel for candidates. The environment is very fast paced, so the ability to multi-task will be important as you review system entries for accuracy and act as final approver for personnel file documents. Attention to detail and ensuring adherence to established processing guidelines is critical. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 1 years of relevant professional experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Responsibilities

  • Represents organizational unit on administrative matters.
  • Recommends, interprets, and/or implements company and internal administrative policies and procedures.
  • Performs as a generalist a combination of administrative tasks in such functional areas as finance, human resources, purchasing, research and development.
  • May prepare budgeting, project scheduling, and statistical reports as required.
  • Support selected administrative functions related to the onboarding of new employees and processing of internal transfers.
  • Handles new hire, internal transfer and leased labor documents and verifications.
  • Schedules travel for candidates.
  • Reviews system entries for accuracy and acts as final approver for personnel file documents.
  • Ensures adherence to established processing guidelines.
  • Ensures lines of communication are open and responses are timely.
