The Administration & Compliance Officer will serve as the subject matter expert on import, export, and security compliance across Rhenus Air & Ocean operations. This role involves partnering with regional leadership to align business activities with regulatory requirements, managing compliance risk, and advising on corporate compliance matters such as anti-corruption, fraud, competition law, and conflicts of interest. The officer will also monitor regulatory developments, engage with key regulatory bodies, manage audits and investigations, oversee global and local compliance policies, and ensure adherence to various trade and security programs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Law, or a related field
7-10 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or auditing, with exposure to internal controls and regulatory frameworks
Strong understanding of compliance principles within an operational environment, ideally in transportation or supply chain
Demonstrated ability to assess risk, identify gaps, and recommend practical, business-aligned solutions
Experience reviewing policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate complex compliance scenarios
High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment, particularly when handling sensitive or confidential matters
Well-organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines consistently
Familiarity with operational and financial processes, as well as broader corporate compliance requirements
Fluent in English, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

Serve as the subject matter expert on import, export, and security compliance across Rhenus Air & Ocean operations
Partner with regional leadership to align business activities with regulatory requirements and manage compliance risk
Advise managers and employees on corporate compliance matters, including anti-corruption, fraud, competition law, and conflicts of interest
Monitor regulatory and legislative developments, communicating impacts and required actions
Act as the primary point of contact with key regulatory bodies, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Transportation Security Administration
Manage audits, inspections, and escalations, ensuring timely resolution of compliance issues
Conduct compliance risk assessments and support internal investigations as required
Identify risks and implement controls to support compliant and efficient operations
Oversee and implement global and local compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls
Support contract review and provide compliance input on commercial agreements and major initiatives, including M&A activity
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and ensure consistent execution across the business
Provide regular reporting to senior leadership in line with internal compliance frameworks
Lead compliance for key programs including Indirect Air Carrier, Certified Cargo Screening, and Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism
Oversee bonded warehouse and foreign trade zone compliance, including documentation and reporting requirements
Ensure adherence to Federal Maritime Commission regulations and ocean freight compliance standards
Ensure all import and export activities meet applicable regulatory requirements
Develop and deliver training programs to strengthen compliance awareness and accountability
Support the rollout of new or updated compliance policies and promote best practices across teams
