About The Position

The Bureau of Talent Acquisition is seeking Administration and Management Trainees who are ready to learn, grow, and make an impact. This position gives you a chance to develop important administrative and technical skills while working with experienced professionals. You will be part of a team that values learning and supports your progress. This role prepares you for a rewarding career in human resources within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania! This position provides guided training and real-world experience that will help you understand how state government hiring works. You will take part in structured learning and hands-on tasks that support human resource operations. Upon successful completion of this training program, you will be promoted to a permanent Human Resource Analyst.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree, including 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a 12-month structured learning plan that builds administrative and technical human resource skills
  • Learn the Commonwealth applicant tracking system and review or create requisitions, enter a variety of personnel transactions, and prepare monthly reports
  • Prepare job postings and review content to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Enter exam information and supplemental questions into the applicant tracking system
  • Work with supervisors, hiring managers, and business partners on assigned tasks
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to staff and partners

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week telework, 2 days a week in the office.
  • In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
  • If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
