About The Position

This role involves supervising programs, assisting in defining objectives, developing policies and procedures, and scheduling facilities and events. The officer will coordinate work units, manage budgets, prepare financial reports, administer policies, oversee staff recruitment and personnel documents, and provide administrative, financial, and technical support to the VI SBDC. The position also involves assisting with grant proposals, monitoring contracts for compliance, managing revenues and expenditures, administering contract terms, training new staff, and keeping the SBDC State Director informed of relevant matters. The role requires the ability to travel, be self-motivated, remain composed, sit for extended periods, and occasionally work extended hours in a moderately noisy environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field and four (4) years of higher education administration experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and seven (7) years of higher education administration experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise programs, assist in defining objectives, develop policies and procedures, schedule facilities and events.
  • Coordinate work units, relay information from the SBDC State Director, follow up on work, and evaluate employee performance.
  • Manage budget, recommend budget items, coordinate proposal submissions, monitor project activities and expenditures, approve purchases and payments, and maintain expenditure records.
  • Prepare quarterly, semi-annual, and annual SBA financial reports, and oversee all audits and financial examinations.
  • Administer policy, review and approve documents for the SBDC State Director’s signature, and maintain policy decisions and guidelines.
  • Monitor staff recruitment, review personnel documents, develop procedures for monitoring and verifying employee procedures, conduct verification on personnel documents, and serve on search committees.
  • Supervise staff, select and train staff, plan, schedule and assign work, initiate disciplinary action, and approve time sheets and leave requests.
  • Provide administrative, financial and technical support to the VI SBDC.
  • Assist with grant proposals, prepare annual budget, and monitor all contracts to ensure Federal and state compliance.
  • Monitor revenues and expenditures for fiscal/calendar year.
  • Administer and interpret business portion of contracts.
  • Train/orient new staff members.
  • Keep SBDC State Director informed about calls, issues, events and matters that affect SBDC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
