About The Position

The University of Iowa Center for Teaching is hiring an Administrative Services Coordinator. This is a 50% position that serves as the friendly, welcoming face and key organizational support for the Center for Teaching. The role ensures the effective day-to-day operation of the Center by providing front-line reception and administrative coordination, including scheduling, project support, assistance with program development, and general office assistance. The position also assists with the planning and implementation of specific projects, services, and programs, serves as a key role in the cash handling process for departmental checks, and gathers information and data for special initiatives. The coordinator will liaise with campus community members regarding meetings, events, Center news, and guests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in office administration or equivalent.
  • Working proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Working proficiency in event organization.
  • Working proficiency in professional demeanor.
  • May include infrequent evening and weekend work.

  • Experience in a higher education institution.
  • Familiarity with teaching in a higher education context.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with copy editing, writing for a newsletter, web editing, and graphic design.
  • Experience teaching in a higher ed context.
  • Experience providing support in a Center for Teaching & Learning, office of graduate development or faculty development, or related office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Center for Teaching.
  • Provide front-line reception and administrative coordination.
  • Manage scheduling, project support, and general office assistance.
  • Assist with program development.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of specific projects, services, and programs.
  • Serve as a key role in the cash handling process for all departmental checks received.
  • Assist with gathering information and data, and prepare materials and reports for special initiatives.
  • Liaise with appropriate campus community members regarding meetings, events, Center news, and Center guests.
