The Admin II – Authorization Specialist is responsible for proficiently performing all tasks required for the purpose of insurance verification, benefits and eligibility and prior authorization in a radiology setting.

Requirements

  • Two years previous medical office experience.
  • Ability to do essential duties.
  • Ability to read, understand, speak, write and follow English instructions.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely for effective communication.
  • Superior knowledge of authorization/verification process.
  • Knowledge of Nevada insurances.
  • Ability to use excellent communications skills.
  • Ability to manage stress appropriately.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritizes effectively.
  • Ability to work alone and/or with others effectively.
  • Ability to work in close proximity to others in a distracting environment.
  • Possesses common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls in a prompt and pleasant manner, in all job capacities.
  • Obtain authorizations and eligibility in a timely manner with comprehensive documentation.
  • Schedule, coordinate, reschedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Relay necessary messages to staff.
  • Obtain insurance information regarding co-pays, deductibles and percentage payments.
  • Verify patient information and thoroughly document necessary information in RIS system.
  • Inform patients of any balance due.
  • Assist with faxing, printing reports.
  • Question patients regarding prior exams and history and notify them of protocols for scheduled procedure.
  • Conduct or train for proper operation of all equipment.
  • Train and support peers and new team members, sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practices, and ensuring consistency in processes across the department.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
