About The Position

The Administrative Director, Clinical Engineering provides strategic and operational leadership for biomedical services, clinical engineering, medical equipment support, and technology lifecycle management across the organization. This role oversees the teams, processes, vendors, and systems that ensure medical equipment is safe, reliable, available, and aligned with the needs of patient care. This position serves as the senior operational leader for clinical engineering services, uniting biomedical operations, equipment support, service delivery, capital asset planning, regulatory readiness, and vendor performance under one strategy. The Director is responsible for developing and executing plans that align with organizational priorities, improve equipment reliability, strengthen service responsiveness, support capital planning, and optimize the lifecycle management of clinical technology assets. This role is first and foremost a leadership position. While biomedical services, clinical engineering, healthcare technology management, and capital asset management experience are strongly preferred, the successful candidate will bring strong operational discipline, financial stewardship, communication skills, and the ability to lead technical teams through change. This position requires a leader who can build trusted partnerships with clinical, operational, supply chain, finance, facilities, and technology stakeholders to ensure clinical engineering services support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This position plays a critical leadership role within the Technology Division and collaborates extensively with peers across clinical, business, and operational areas to ensure the stability, safety, and success of clinical engineering services supporting patient care and organizational operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership or operational experience, preferably in a complex healthcare, technical services, clinical engineering, biomedical services, facilities, supply chain, or technology environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing operational performance, overseeing budgets, improving service delivery, and partnering with clinical and administrative leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, engineering, clinical engineering, biomedical technology, business, information technology, or a related leadership, clinical, or technical field.
  • Experience in biomedical services, clinical engineering, healthcare technology management, medical equipment planning, capital asset management, regulatory readiness, or vendor-managed service models.
  • Experience supporting medical equipment lifecycle planning, preventive maintenance programs, equipment replacement planning, clinical technology standardization, and capital planning.
  • Ability to develop and execute operational strategies that align with organizational goals and improve service performance, reliability, safety, and user satisfaction.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate diverse technical teams and build a culture of accountability and service excellence.
  • Strong operational management skills, including performance management, workflow optimization, issue escalation, prioritization, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations and the importance of reliable medical equipment in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
  • Knowledge of biomedical services, clinical engineering, medical equipment maintenance, and healthcare technology management.
  • Experience with capital asset planning, equipment lifecycle management, replacement planning, standardization, and financial stewardship.
  • Expertise in operational and financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, and expense management.
  • Strong vendor management, contract oversight, service-level management, and performance accountability abilities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation expectations related to medical equipment safety, maintenance documentation, preventive maintenance, and equipment readiness.
  • Ability to use performance metrics, service data, asset data, and reporting tools to improve visibility, decision-making, and operational outcomes.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on operational oversight.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, business, operational, finance, supply chain, facilities, and technology functions.
