About The Position

Join Us and Be Apart of The Samaritan Difference! This role provides administrative and program support to the Volunteer Department. You will assist with various tasks related to volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention. The position involves coordinating volunteer assignments, maintaining communication with stakeholders, and managing volunteer documentation. You will also support department programs and events, answer inquiries, and ensure compliance with agency policies. Samaritan is a leading not-for-profit provider of home-based primary care, palliative care, hospice care, grief support, education, social connections, and advocacy, serving the South Jersey community since 1980.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Computer literacy required, including Microsoft Office and internet-based systems
  • Ability to work tactfully with volunteers, staff, patients, families, caregivers, and community partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or coursework in human services, healthcare administration, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • One to three years of administrative, volunteer coordination, customer service, healthcare, nonprofit, or community service experience preferred.
  • Database or volunteer management system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and program support to the Volunteer Department, including data entry, filing, scheduling, copying, faxing, correspondence, and general office support.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training preparation, and retention activities.
  • Help coordinate volunteer assignments for patients and families in homes, facilities, inpatient centers, and community-based programs under the direction of department leadership.
  • Maintain timely communication with volunteers, office staff, interdisciplinary team members, and community partners to support volunteer needs and department operations.
  • Complete, track, organize, and submit required volunteer documentation, records, hours, compliance updates, and related program information.
  • Assist with changes in volunteer status, assignment updates, contact information, availability, and other volunteer records.
  • Support volunteer education days, in-services, recognition & community events, support sessions, outreach activities, and other department programs.
  • Answer questions and provide accurate information about volunteer services to staff, volunteers, patients, families, caregivers, and community members as appropriate.
  • Assist with monitoring volunteer compliance and communicating follow-up needs to the appropriate supervisor or department leader.
  • Help prepare reports, lists, mailings, materials, and other documents needed for department operations and agency compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow agency policies, procedures, and standards when handling volunteer, patient, family, caregiver, and staff information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Volunteer Department and Samaritan’s mission of life-enhancing care.
